Plant of the Month: Tilapariti tiliaceum rubrum

Our plant of the month for March is Tilapariti tiliaceum rubrum (formerly Hibiscus tiliaceus rubrum). This native hibiscus also known as Red Cottonwood is popular for its showy yellow flowers, evergreen red, heart shaped leaves and tropical appearance. It can be grown as a small spreading tree, large hedge/screen, wind break or as an attractive specimen plant. Plant in a warm frost free position. Suitable for coastal conditions. 8m x 3-5m. Full sun/part shade.

Plant of the Month: Grevillea Gin Gin Gem

Our Plant of the Month for February is Grevillea Gin Gin Gem. Gin Gin Gem is an attractive, widely spreading, evergreen ground cover with bright green new growth and orange-red flowers that appear almost all year round. Ideal for a low care garden. Flowers attract nectar feeding birds. Thrives in a sunny, well drained position. tolerates light shade, dry periods and most frosts. 20-30cm high x 1-3m wide.

Plant of the Month: Grevillea johnsonii

Our plant of the month for January is Grevillea johnsonii. Grevillea johnsonii is a medium-tall shrub with deeply divided, dark green leaves. In spring it produces a profusion of pinkish-red flowers. Ideal for an informal hedge or screen. Flowers attract nectar feeding birds. Full sun, 2-4.5m x 2-4m wide.

 

Plant of the Month: Ceratopetalum ‘Johanna’s Christmas’

Our Plant of the Month for December is Ceratopetalum ‘Johanna’s Christmas’ (Dwarf NSW Christmas Bush) Johanna’s Christmas is beautiful dwarf form of the very popular NSW Christmas Bush. Its compact growth habit means it is versatile enough to grace patios, courtyards, balconies and decks. The flowers are creamy white and begin to appear in spring in profusion. As these flowers start to die off, the calyx of each flower turns a beautiful shade of deep red. This gorgeous display is typically seen before Christmas.

Plant of the Month: Leptospermum Tickled Pink

Leptospermum ‘Tickled Pink’ is a show stopping tea-tree that flowers profusely in spring. It is a very hardy shrub and will grow well in most positions. Tickled Pink is ideal from small gardens and also makes a wonderful screen, hedge or garden specimen. Full sun or part shade. 1.5-2 metres high and wide. This one comes highly recommended by our staff to add a great splash of colour to your garden.
